While in New York City, I was lucky enough to make the acquaintance of Sarah Sohn, the founder and owner of Sweet & Sara Marshmallows, the world's very vegan marshmallow!
If you don't know what's wrong with marshmallows, don't worry most people don't! Let me clue you in-- conventional marshmallows contain gelatin, which is actually made from the bone, skin and hooves of animals. Gross right? Totally.
Anyway, Sara is my hero because she understands veganism doesn't mean deprivation. She missed her favorite childhood treat, and did something about it-- and put a nail in the coffin of the old sensibility that veganism means a bland, boring, and treat-free existence. And the world is noticing. Last year the line was picked by Martha Stewart as one of her "Favorite Marshmallow Vendors"!
Look for Thursday's first installment of "9 Questions With..." when I chat with Sara about her new flavors for summer!
And why "9 Questions" you ask? Well, for one, blogs are all about quick reads, so short attention spans-- I got your back! And secondly, nine just happens to be my lucky number. And three, well, it's my blog. So 9 Questions it is! : )
